Specializing in sports medicine, Dr. Hunter S. Greene is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with 16-years of practice and joined Summit Orthopedic Specialists in 2005. Dr. Greene specializes in pediatric and adult sports medicine in his practice, including arthroscopic shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle techniques. He is also the only surgeon in the area who is fellowship trained in hip arthroscopy, a minimally invasive method of diagnosing and treating a variety of hip conditions.
Earning his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Greene completed a general surgery internship at the UC Davis Medical Center. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Yale New Haven Hospital and fellowship training in sports medicine and pediatric sports medicine from UC San Francisco. Dr. Greene holds himself to the highest of standards as an orthopedic surgeon, and this directly translates into the dedication he has to providing his patients with the utmost care. When he’s not directly caring for patients, his passion for teaching others has given him the opportunity to train medical students and mentor residents, fellows and colleagues. Born in San Luis Obispo and grew up on the central coast in a small farming town. Dr. Greene attended school with the same friends from first grade through high school and understands young athletes having big dreams. As a father of three boys and married for 25 years, Dr. Greene is dedicated to giving his patients the opportunity to get back to the lives and activities they love.
As part of Dr. Greene’s practice, he serves on the board of Positive Coaching Alliance, an organization dedicated to teaching young athletes life lessons through sports. In his role with Positive Coaching Alliance, Dr. Greene emphasizes injury prevention with the athletes. In addition, he enjoys working closely with each patient to develop a treatment plan that allows the quickest and safest return to their respective activities.
Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions. And the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making the time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year. Commitment is the stuff character is made of, the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism.
